On Sunday, August 1, 2010, Hawaiian Brian’s and Tidal Wave Entertainment will be hosting a medical fundraiser for Gilbert Teves. Gilbert who is a horse enthusiast and dog showman was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) about a year ago. CML which affects 1-2 people in 100,000 has no known cures except for bone marrow or stem cell transplant. Fortunately, on July 1st he was accepted by City of Hope Medical Center in Los Angeles, California where they have found a match for a bone marrow transplant. Although, most of his medical expenses are covered, it does not include traveling. He must find his own way there and back for orientation, testing, treatments, and transplant.
Our goal is to raise money to help pay for Gilbert’s multiple travel to City of Hope Medical Center and for the intense therapy and recovery that will give him another chance of living life to its fullest. His wife, Marion will also be accompanying him to Los Angeles to undergo training and procedures to help Gilbert during his recovery process.
Doors open at 1pm and goes until 6pm. Tickets are available for $20 each. All ages are welcome. 10 and under are free. There will be good food, great prizes, and a no host bar.
Emcee by Mento Mele and entertainment will be provided by Jahmaka, Kaniloas, Jazz Palate, Pineapple Squeeze, the Mel Amina Band, and more.
For more information, tickets, or donations, please call Marion Teves at 548-9606 or Tidal Wave Entertainment at 330-5858.
